Cabinets Are In!

All of our cabinets have been made and installed. We worked with a custom cabinet maker here in town to design all the cabinetry and closet shelving for the bedrooms. We are so pleased with the result. The woodworking is excellent! Here are a few snapshots of some pieces in the house.
This is a piece I came up with in the mud room. The back will have hooks for hanging coats and the openings beneath will have baskets for storing gloves, hats, etc.
This is a view of my kitchen. Looks very different from a few weeks ago! The rangetop is on the left, double ovens and fridge go against the center wall, and the sink goes under the window on right.

This is another piece that I came up with. This is a buffet in the dining room that will have a marble countertop. The upper cabinets will have glass doors and lighting on the inside.
This is the kitchen in the basement. This is the side where the bar stools will be.
As promised, a picture of our front door. It finally dried out enough for me to get to the front of the house!

A Hint of What's to Come...

Whew! Over a month without posting! Sorry about that! Here's the latest with our house. All of the sheetrock is up. The ceiling and walls have been textured. The hardwood floor has been laid (it will be sanded and stained later). The interior doors are hung and the trim is being put up (baseboards, etc). Workers have also been sloshing through the red clay mud around the house and have almost finished putting up all the brick. Once the yard dries enough I will venture out to take a picture of the exterior. For now here's an updated pic of my future kitchen!!
So now I'm going to give you a little taste of things you will see in the house! These are small little details that I've been working on picking out the past few weeks. I'm finally beginning to see in my head what the house will look like as a whole!
This is a textured venetian glass 3x3 tile. It will be used as an accent tile in the kitchen backsplash. This picture makes it look very brown, when it fact the tile is very irradescent and picks up whatever color you are holding next to it. Very pretty!
This is a tile that has crushed glass inside. It comes in a variety of colors that I will be incorporating into a mosiac above the gas range.

I always thought these pantry doors were so neat! So instead of having the same panel doors that you see in the rest of the house, I chose this one. It will be stained the same color as my kitchen cabinets.
Our house will have a parlor/formal sitting area so I needed a carpet that would be a bit more formal than the plush carpet in the rest of the house. This pattern is Tuscany Travels and it shows up much better in person when you are looking at a large sample.
